Kevin A. Taylor Award

2008

Chris McClelland A.G.R.A.

N.S.W.

The late Kevin A. Taylor was an esteemed member of AGRA whose talents as an artist, teacher, mentor and judge were well known to other artists and artlovers in the representational art world in Victoria.

The year before he died he was the judge of our Awards Exhibition and said to me after the judging that there should have been a prize for the best painting as well as an award acknowledging the artist whose combined works displayed the most consistent competence - often the artist who achieves the major award doesn't necessarily present what the judge considers is the most outstanding painting of the exhibition.

Kevin died not long before the 2004 exhibition & it was decided to honour his role at the Guild with the Best Painting Award.
