A.G.R.A. is a national body and makes these awards open to members in all states. The first three awards are given at the annual AGRA Australian Art Awards Exhibition in October.

The 'Australian Art Excellence Medallion' was first awarded in 2000. Its aim is to find and promote a working, realist or representational artist worthy of Australian recognition.

The second award, The Terry Collins Medallion is given to an artist to share a major exhibition with the Medallion winner at the AGRA Galleries in the following August.

A third award , The Kevin A Taylor Award is for the Best individual painting in the show.

All major Regional and Representational Fine Art Galleries in Australia are informed of the A.A.E.Medallion award and provided with a brochure featuring the artist and their work.

The Kenneth Jack Award is awarded for Drawing Excellence and is judged at the annual Drawing Exhibition.

Artists who have won these award since 2000 are shown below in chronological order.

Chris McClelland A.G.R.A.

N.S.W.

The late Kevin A. Taylor was an esteemed member of AGRA whose talents as an artist, teacher, mentor and judge were well known to other artists and artlovers in the representational art world in Victoria.

The year before he died he was the judge of our Awards Exhibition and said to me after the judging that there should have been a prize for the best painting as well as an award acknowledging the artist whose combined works displayed the most consistent competence - often the artist who achieves the major award doesn't necessarily present what the judge considers is the most outstanding painting of the exhibition.

Kevin died not long before the 2004 exhibition & it was decided to honour his role at the Guild with the Best Painting Award.
